Join the MSBA for the 2024 Legal Summit Series: Read the Rules (Or: Rules for Your Back Pocket) on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 2 p.m.
Where does it say that settlement talks are confidential? How do I serve a subpoena on a represented person? How should I communicate with an unrepresented person? What should I do if I have reason to believe that my client has lied under oath in court?
This presentation reviews a number of Maryland Rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of Professional Conduct that come up in the course of litigation with some frequency but that busy counsel often do not take the time to look up, read carefully and then save in a convenient place for future reference. The review is meant to familiarize newer practitioners with these rules, refresh the memory or possibly correct the tradition-based practices of seasoned counsel and provide a crib sheet for quick reference. This will be an interactive presentation for practitioners who litigate all sorts of civil cases in the Maryland state courts but with a focus on circuit court litigation.
Presented by Tasnima Apol, Esq., Apol Law LLC and Moges Abebe, Esq., Navigate Law Firm
