Release No. 11-001

Park School is the champion of the 2010-2011 Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) Statewide High School Mock Trial Competition.  On April 15, in the Court of Appeals of Maryland with Judge Joseph Murphy presiding, the Park School team from Baltimore County engaged in a lively final championship match with Richard Montgomery High School from Montgomery County, and Park School was declared the winner.
Last fall, 2000+ high school students, representing 131 high schools across Maryland, entered MSBA’s annual statewide High School Mock Trial Competition.  These student mock trial teams perform the same trial, assuming the roles of attorneys and witnesses.  Teams devote countless hours in preparation for the competition under the direction and guidance of volunteer attorney and teacher advisors.

Since its inception in 1983, over 48,000 Maryland youth have participated in MSBA's Mock Trial Competition.  MSBA's educational arm in Maryland schools, the Citizenship Law-Related Education Program (CLREP), manages the competition.  MSBA sponsors this educational and enjoyable contest to promote young people's understanding of the law, trial procedures and the legal system.
