Sylvia Ontaneda-Bernales

Ober Kaler’s Litigation attorney Sylvia Ontaneda-Bernales has been named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record.  She received the award due to her remarkable professional accomplishments, community service, leadership and mentoring.  Aside from her extensive bar service, she was recently appointed a member of the Maryland Health Care Commission by Governor Martin O’Malley.

The National Federation of Independent Business Legal Foundation has added labor and employment law attorney Maurice Baskin to their Advisory Board, which guides the foundation in choosing cases to pursue.

Edward “Ted” J. Baines, a Partner in the Litigation Department of Saul Ewing LLP, has been elected to the firm’s Executive Committee.  The seven-person committee serves as the firm’s managing body.

Miles & Stockbridge P.C. has added corporate law attorney Timothy A. Hodge, Jr., as a Partner.

Stephanie Wickouski, partner-in-charge at the New York office of Drinker, Biddle & Reath, LLP, will lead the firm’s Corporate Trust Team.

Zuckerman Spaeder LLP has promoted commercial litigation attorney P. Andrew Torrez to Partner.

Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman & Leonard, P.A., has expanded their practice into Maryland, with attorneys Irving E. Walker and Gary H. Leibowitz based out of the new office at 111 South Calvert Street, Suite 2350, Baltimore, Maryland 21201; (410) 230-0660.

Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, LLP, has expanded its Falls Church office, which is base for such attorneys as: Eileen Morgan Johnson, Thomas Mugavero and Eric A. Vendt, among others.

Edward G. Ketchen has retired as an administrative judge from the Department of Defense Armed Service Board of Contract Appeals.  He opened an alternative dispute resolution office at 12154 Darnestown Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878; (301) 233-0271.
