As MSBA prepares to make long overdue major changes to update both the look and functionality of the MSBA website, there is still a wealth of information available to Bar members on the site.

Here are some of the highlights of our member resources.

Member Benefits

The MSBA provides its members with discounted services or products that can help aid and support practitioners and their firm. There are many items listed on the member benefits page. Since many of the benefits are for MSBA members only, you will need to log in to get the pass code to benefit from some of these vendors. You can also get information on all the vendor benefits that the MSBA offers and contact information.

Law Office Management Assistance (LOMA)

This department is the help desk for solo and small firm practitioners throughout the state. Questions can range from law practice management to technology. The LOMA department provides guidance and information to our members, especially to new or experienced solo and small firm practitioners. Contact the office at (410) 685-7878, ext. 3038. If LOMA cannot answer all your questions, LOMA can find someone who can. The department offers a wide range of informational packets and resource guides for solo and small firm practitioners. LOMA also provides law practice videos and helpful articles to help assist you with your law practice.

Legal Career Center

This is the centralized location where employers and lawyers meet online. Members can search and review thousands of legal positions. Members can also post their resume online for employers and recruiters to view. The Legal Career Center can also assist you by giving you the latest tips and guides to creating a more effective resume. The Legal Career Center is also not just for job seekers, it is also for employers and recruiters to help find the area’s top legal professionals.

Lawyer Assistance Program

Lawyer Assistance Program assists judges, lawyers, law students, legal staff, and their families who experience personal problems that interfere with their personal lives or their ability to serve as counsel or officers of the court. It is a free, confidential assistance to the legal community, and it offers help with alcohol/substance abuse, mental health issues, and continued support in recovery to ensure long term success. See page 13 for more information.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE)

The Maryland State Bar Association offers a wide selection of CLE educational programs, delivered to you in a variety of ways.

  • Live Programs – Join colleagues for great learning and networking opportunities at the live programs presented throughout the state.
  • Online CLE – Enjoy the convenience of Online Streaming CLE 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Choose from a variety of programs that will remain accessible for three months after the date of purchase. Download program materials any time after purchase.

Ethics Hotline

A monthly list of members on the Ethics Hotline will take calls from members who have questions on ethical issues. The Ethics Hotline does not give legal advice, and it only answers questions related to the Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct. All members of the Hotline are practicing attorneys or judges. Please contact them and let them know that you have a question for the Ethics Hotline. They will make every effort to return your call as soon as possible if they are not immediately available. See page 3 for Hotline contacts.

Courthouse ID Badges

The MSBA Courthouse Identification Badge is available to any attorney who has been admitted to practice law in this state, who is currently a member of the Bar in good standing, and who is currently certified by the Court of Appeals as an active practitioner.

Wednesday Webinars
