MSBA Presents The Maryland DUI Institute

Maryland DUI convictions not only carry significant penalties, including fines and imprisonment, but they can also result in the loss of driving privileges and harm a person’s reputation and career.

Not all DUI charges result in guilty verdicts, though, and there are often numerous opportunities for defense attorneys to attack the prosecution’s case. It is critical, then, for any lawyer representing a party charged with a DUI offense to understand the ins and outs of DUI cases and what steps they can take to protect their client’s interests. MSBA is proud to present The Maryland DUI Institute on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. for attorneys interested in learning more about how they can better serve their clients faced with DUI charges. If you handle drinking and driving cases, or want to, this program is a must.

During this livestream event, acclaimed attorneys Lenny Stamm and Andrew Alpert will educate participants on how to identify and handle issues that are important in preparing to defend a DUI case in court, from the initial stop of the vehicle, the roadside investigation, the breath test, to plea negotiations, trial and sentencing. They will also address how to approach and handle driver license suspension hearings at the MVA, and provide updates on recent case law regarding DUI related issues.

Six hours of credit will be offered for the surrounding MCLE states of Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

If you’re unable to attend the live virtual program in July, the entire event will be recorded and available to you to view later. You can register to attend here and pre-purchase the OnDemand recording here.
